The very first Minnesota Music Month Scouting Report, published in April of 2024, celebrates some of the rising stars of the local music community.

How did we get here? Since July of 2022, The Current’s digital team and The Local Show Host Diane have published a monthly digital feature called The Scouting Report featuring new music by local artists. So, for Minnesota Music Month, The Current decided to do something special and extend an invitation out to the local music community for April’s edition of The Scouting Report.

The Current sent a ballot to 270 people around the state working in fields related to arts journalism, venues, promotion, music retail, artist representation, manufacturing, and more. Their task: choose five new Minnesota bands/artists who put their first project out after Jan. 1, 2022. On Minnesota Music Day — Wednesday, April 10 — The Current revealed the top 11 vote-getters, and all completed ballots on the following day.

The 2024 Minnesota Music Month Scouting Report’s featured artists are she’s green (top vote-getter), Clare Doyle, Ber, Laamar, Prize Horse, Molly Brandt, Chutes, Zora, Ricki Monique, Riotgrrrldarko, and sahn.
